Take wing and join us in the Chapel in Andover for this free fantastic, feathery event, drawing birds of prey from life.
Join us at Chapel Arts Studios for an immersive sketching experience where art meets the wild. Guided by an expert artist and avian specialist, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to observe and draw live birds of prey.
Our expert falconer will be bringing along three majestic raptors – a Kestrel, a Peregrine Falcon and a Barn Owl – and while we draw we will learn all about birds of prey, and falconer Steve from K&H Falconry will be very happy to answer any questions.
The session will be led by nature-loving artist Elizabeth Hammond. We will provide you with all the materials you need to get started, and Elizabeth will be on hand with plenty of creative advice. There will be drawing exercises, live demos and you'll be encouraged to capture the character and movement of the birds on paper.
No prior art experience is needed to join the session- whether you’re a dab hand or an absolute beginner, with a few of our tips and tricks we will have to sketching away in no time. The aim of our classes is to use drawing as a tool to learn more about animals and conservation, and there is no pressure to create a “perfect” portrait! We will provide a range of art materials, paper and drawing boards for you to use, so no need to bring anything along, but if you have some trusty favourites that you enjoy using you’re very welcome to bring them.
All ability levels are welcome, and all artistic styles are celebrated. This event is Free!
